I was under the impression that an off-duty cop is just a regular guy, why was he released after running from a trooper for 15 minutes?

^^the same reason that cops who use deadly force inappropriately and take an unarmed or innocent man's life get a paid leave and at most lose their job.

i support the trooper 100% on this stop. I dont give a damn if you are PD or an immigrant with no license. If you are going over the speed limit and your not CODE 3 aka lights and sirens. I'd stop you, cuff you and detain you.

I am ALMOST 100% sure that it wasnt the woman FHPs decision to let him go. I'm sure her superior made the decision after speaking to Miami PDs Captain on duty.[b]

In Broward I see things like this happen all the time, cops will be at an intersection, decide they don't want to wait like the rest of us and put on their lights and hit it and then turn off their lights when they cross the intersection.

Like you said The superior probably talked to another superior and they decided to let him off the hook. Its a proven fact if media does not step in, alot of the infractions that police officers do are ignored by their fellow officers and if the cop caused an accident or mishap you'd see how you end up paying the bill and the cop get off scotch free or a quick cover up.
